Clara Piccirillo - Robert Pullar

Clara graduated in Industrial Chemistry at the University of Padua (Italy).

She has worked in research for over ten years in the fields of Materials Science and Microbiology, in research institutions and universities in Italy, UK and Portugal; in the past she also worked as lecturer in a British university.

During her carrier as a researcher, she wrote over 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals, including Biomaterials, Journal of Materials Chemistry, Journal of Applied Physics and Chemistry of Materials.

She always had an interest in writing and in communicating science to a wider audience of non-scientists; she was lecturing on topics such as “Writing and Communication Skills for Engineers”. Currently Clara works as researcher in the Escola Superior de Biotecnologia of Porto (Portugal); furthermore, she writes for a periodical published in her hometown in Italy (Quaderni di Scienza e Scienziati Molisani, Campobasso) explaining the research she does, its importance, and its implications for all the community. She also collaborates with Guinness World Records, to advise them about the record requests they receive in the fields of Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science and Microbiology. She is also interest in travelling and world literature.
